Zdeňka Černý (1913). Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). Art Nouveau lithograph. In 1906 Mucha lodged with A.V. Černý, a Professor of Music. Mucha befriended seven year old daughter Zdeňka, and promised to paint her portrait when she became a virtuoso concert artist. He did so, when she was 16, and it formed the basis of for this poster advertising a 1914-1915 European tour. The tour was cancelled when war broke out but the poster remains as a testament to the artist’s friendship with the Černý family.
