April is National Poetry Month, why not have your students take "selfie" shots and write "Selfie Poems!"

Embracing technology: this idea is for students to take a selfie and then write a poem on what they're proud of in themselves. Nice way to start a school year for students who may think they don't like poetry.

Blackout poetry~ What an impressive and creative idea. I never thought of doing something like this. Making these is like putting together a puzzle. Plus, it's a lovely way to stitch together a little fantasy story and get yourself in the right mindset to create some cool art.

Incorporate art into writing (poetry): Students can even pick a page from their favourite book as an inspiration. Book page poetry is really neat and a great way to show creativity with older kids. This is an interesting way to teach poetry.

FREE Poetry Book and Anchor Charts for student notebooks. Great for literacy centers and test prep

Love these poetry anchor charts! They were perfect for my language arts bulletin board. I also made copies for my writing workshop folders. This was a great poetry vocabulary resource!
