Ngaio Marsh is probably my all-time favorite author.  A contemporary of Agatha Christie, Marsh also wrote mysteries but with more humor than Christie usually demonstrated. (Agree!)

Louise Penny won 5 mystery awards for this book, the 1st in a very successful series. She's been compared to Agatha Christie. Unique  characters, great writing, and a good plot. Set in Quebec, Canada. The rest of the books in this series have also won many awards.

Anything by Ngaio Marsh. She's one of my favourite mystery writers. She's no longer with us, but fortunately, her books are!
