These unique gold mines are set amid wooded hillsides overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley. 2,000 years ago, the powerful Romans left behind a glimpse of gold-mining methods. The harsh mining environment continued in the 19th and 20th centuries, ending in 1938.

Stage 2 of our new 'bat-friendly' gate; awaiting final approvals before painting. The bars are set horizontal rather than vertical to aid the bats' flightpaths as they enter/exit the mines. It's been a fantastic weekend for wildlife spots. King fishers in the river Cothi behind the caravan park, the swallows have returned and a mother duck took her ducklings for walk down the steps to the mine yard. Can you spot them?
