Side boards, 2 X 10's, are fitted on the outside of the overall frame next to the house and on the outside at the top of the floor boards and connected to the 4 X 4 corner posts with carriage bolts, flat washers and washers, mounted through-and-through.

The stringers for the steps were cut from 2 X 12 boards. One board was cut and leveled and the steps were drawn on the board with a level and square and then cut out. This deck was built flush to the rear doors on a house built on a slope. The deck is 14 X 18 feet and five feet off the ground, at the doors. Using all pressure treated wood, the finished product will last for many years. Decks, Doors, Pressure Treated Wood, House Built, House

The foundation for a 14 foot by 18 foot wooden deck begins with 16 4 X 4 pressure treated posts sunk 4 feet in the ground with 80 pounds of cement each. The four corner posts are leveled and squared first and the other posts are then seated in the ground and tied together with 2 X 6 boards using carriage bolts and nuts.
