I have looked at MC. Escher's 'drawing hands' which has been drawn with pencil adding precise details on the hands with the light shining directly from the right hand side of the corner. For my study I decided to use pencil tonal to explore similar marks and have taken a section focusing on one hand.
Richard Layzell Richards practice and research are mainly about an engagement with the chance. This takes place in: a floor to be dismantled; a city to be re-examined; a gesture to be defined; a cultural interface with the nature of work and industry; a political campaign; a collaboration with six year olds; an intensive study of the foxglove.
'Barbara and Henry – The Musical' is an exploration of an imagined relationship between revered sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. It was conceived by the artist, Mel Brimfield, and the singer-songwriter, Gwyneth Herbert. Artists working together to invent a number of songs through scratch performances and open rehearsal. Their space will become a theatrical set with costumes, props and backdrops emerging from packing crates and a piano at the heart of the installation.
Simon & Tom Bloor’s practice has been thoughtful with a series of public exhibitions relating to the urban environments, children's play and 20th Century art & design. Through refining and adjusting a familiar modern aesthetic the Bloors playfully control the space where nostalgia acts as a sort of utopia in reverse, presenting the future that never happened. I really enjoyed that lecture, the idea of spray painting on the sculptures to make them look vandalised really caught my attention.
