Ronnie Clayton, former England and and Blackburn captain, passes away aged 76
Former England captain Ronnie Clayton has died at the age of 76. His former club Blackburn, who he also captained, announced his death and paid respects prior to the Premier League home match against Chelsea.

Dave Whelan, left back for Rovers, before playing Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup Final at Wembley, 1960. Whelan broke his leg in the final reducing Rovers to 10 men in the days before sub's were used and it was all down hill from there. (Mr Whelan is now Chairman of Wigan Athletic, a Rovers fan and still affectionately remembered by the Rovers faithful).

Bob Crompton. He made 529 League appearances for Rovers, scoring 14 goals, in an incredible career which spanned 23 years at the club. He was born in Blackburn in September 1879 and made his first appearance in 1896 at the age of 17 away at Stoke. His final game as a player would come at Bradford Park Avenue in February 1920.
