Air travel: the golden age of the air hostess
On hand at the Boeing factory in Everett, Washington state, was Carol Hardy, normally found on Boeing 707s but as BOAC ambassadress she sportingly perched on the nine-foot intake of the enormous 747’s Pratt & Whitney engine. - Daily Telegraph. (This was to try it for size so that future air hostesses could also pose there. It was a mega improvement over the 1st generation jet engines!
The girls gave chase, determined not to let the men get away. They pursued them into one of the airport's out buildings and the men turned at bay, looks of fury on their faces. "You're trapped!" Sandra called to them. "The police are looking for you too!" Suddenly the two men flung down their arms in despair. The stewardesses gingerly approached them and once they had ascertained they were indeed surrendering, they quickly used their scarves to bind the men's hands.
