The “Angel Of Grief” - Emelyn Story’s tomb in the Cimitero Acattolico in Rome is the work of her husband, American sculptor, poet, and art critic William W.

The original Angel of Grief by sculptor William Wetmore Story serves as the grave stone of the artist and his wife at the Protestant Cemetery, Rome.  The inscription on the side reads "This monument the last work of Wm. W. Story executed in memory of his beloved wife".  The term is now used to describe multiple grave stones throughout the world erected in the style of the Story stone.
