Three summers ago on a trip to Costa Rica, Jessica Bird witnessed firsthand the repercussions of sex trafficking when she volunteered at a safe house and befriended a 17-year-old American citizen who had been trafficked by her own father when she was 12. Since then, Jessica has raised $29,000 for the safe house. She also has worked to combat sex trafficking back home in California, and has been recognized for her efforts as a national honoree of the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
