Cooking up a new blend of freekeh lentils and beans form McKenzies. It's 1 cup of the grain blend to 3 cups of water. No I won't die from eating grains esp plain whole grains that are high in fibre. Lots of studies saying whole grains and/or high fibre foods help you to better health. What a deep chasm!

Assembling tonight's salad of Beetroot lentils Freekeh on a bed of parsley mint and radicchio. Plus pomegranate seeds and pom molasses in the dressing. It's purple on purple on purple. I felt like Ottolenghi with the prep in this one. But it was just stunning. And teamed nicely with the lamb.

Am enjoying this book on gluten. Fascinating medical history of how a Banana Diet was fashionable for coeliac disease around the turn of the century. It worked - despite having nothing to do with wheat or grains. Fascinating.

It's back! The Spaghetti Squash which you bake and then fork into shreds. A forerunner of today's trendy zucchini noodles as a pasta substitute. Remember now? Yes it's cooked so not 'Raw' but way less carbs and calories than regular wheat pasta. Yes it's still around today at specialist markets. I found it a lot of work IMHO. You?

This book on gluten and grains arrived yesterday in the post. And I got sucked in and read all the Appendix 2 on how to bake your own sourdough bread. I just love a book that's well-written and effortless to read. An looking forward to reading this about the debate on modern wheats - but from a sensible point of view.
