Scarlet-throated Tanager (Compsthraupis loricata) female, is one of the largest tanagers; 21 cm long. Females are entirely black, while males have red throat. It's endemic to NE Brazil, being almost entirely restricted to the region dominated by Caatinga. It is often found near water & typically at elevations of 660–3,280 ft.
