WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE ART ROOM??: 3rd Grade Mexican Folk Art Mirrors

Look into th Mexican folk art. Grade Mexican Folk Art Mirrors: tooling foil circle glued in center of colored paper circle.

Day 1: glue/water mixture& tissue paper squares: Day 2: draw the starry night! Have multiple color copies of the painting at each table so students can look as they draw. (Go over the elements of the painting as a class: identify the cypress tree, the church, the village, the moon...etc) Then get the kids to notice his brush strokes and the mixtures of colors. Crazy & beautiful things start to happen on the paper…

"For my part, I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream." -Vincent Van Gogh Starry, Starry Night Drawings: oil pastel drawings on tissue paper background.
