Number the Stars (1989) by Lois Lowry.  The book is set in Copenhagen during the Holocaust. It follows a family who is good friends with a family of Jews. When the Germans plan to get rid of all the Jews, the family decides to help them to safety. They take them to a family home by the sea and smuggle them off to Sweden until the war ends.

Number The Stars, Lois Lowry I remember reading this back in third grade. A very, very good book.
