Trier, Germany. Porta Nigra, or the Black Gate, part of the defensive wall surrounding this ancient Roman settlement.  Also visit the gardens of the Dom (Cathedral) here in Trier.  Just outide of Trier a short distance are the remains of a Roman amphitheater.
