This photo of the star-forming region NGC 1763 was created with data from the Hubble Space Telescope archive by Josh Lake. Lake won first prize in the image processing category in the 2012 contest to unearth Hubble's hidden treasures.

Wow.. just wow.

weareallstarstuff: NGC 3576 is a minor nebula in the Sagittarius arm of the galaxy a few thousand light-years away from the Eta Carinae nebula.

NGC 7714 es una galaxia espiral en la constelación de Piscis. Fue descubierto por John Herschel el 18 de septiembre 183

NGC 7714 ~ This unusual structure is a river of Sun-like stars that has been pulled deep into space by the gravitational tug of a passing galaxy (not pictured) during a near-collision approximately 100 million years ago.

When I consider Your Heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor." (Psalm 8:3-5)

The Andromeda Galaxy - It is 2 million light years away from us...so what we see now is how it appeared 2 million years ago. It will collide with our Milky Way in 2 billions years from now - the two galaxies are heading towards each other at a rate of 430 km/hr! A billion years from now Andromeda will loom as a spectacular site, eventually swelling to fill half of the night sky.

NGC 604 is about 50 times the size of the familiar Orion Nebula, here shown approximately to scale. Both are hotbeds of star formation but on vastly different scales. A cluster of some 200 massive type O and Wolf-Rayet stars ionize NGC 604, setting it aglow in vivid reds and green, similar to the Orion Nebula. - Credit: NASA / Hubble Heritage Team (AURA / STScI) / Wikipedia

Photo: This festively colorful nebula, called NGC is one of thelargest known seething cauldrons of star birth in a nearby galaxy.
