Job Chart. Having a job chart helps students maintain a routine in the classroom. Students are responsible for their job and can refer to the chart if necessary. This correlates to NYS Teaching Standards Element IV:3: B. Teachers develop, implement, and adapt routines and procedures to manage activities and transitions.

Ideas of class supplies

Good whole classroom set up Like the idea of ditching the teacher desk

We have a pencil procedure in our room. Sharpen two at the beginning of the day. If you break both during the day you can put the dull one in the “Sharpen Please” cup and grab one from the “Ready to Write” cup. This means that we don’t hear that annoying pencil sharpener during the day and it doesn’t interrupt teaching or learning.

You may have stopped using these after high school algebra. But they still come in handy if a quick math problem arises.

CHAMPS- flip charts for each activity instead of individual posters. This is a great way to cover all possibilities!!!

CHAMPS is a system that I have seen implemented in classrooms before. I really like it because it encourages student self-assesment and clearly lays out what is and is not allowed in the classroom at that time.
