Jazz pianist Earl 'Fatha' Hines, whose pioneer work with Louis Armstrong changed American music forever, died 4/22 of heart failure. There was a bit of confusion about his age. Hines said he was 77, although some reference works listed him at 80. Hines is seen in 1977 photo.
