Tustin CA: one of two mastodon blimp hangers, built in 1942 to house blimps. In 1949, blimp operations were phased out by the Santa Ana NAS—as it was called. Each hangar is more than 1,000 ft long & 300 ft wide. In 1999, one of the blimp hangars was designated a national historic landmark & is to be preserved (the 2nd one presumably will be torn down). It’s estimated that if the 2x4’s used in each hangar were place in linear fashion, the line would extend from San Diego to Sacramento!
