Charles White -1918-1979. He was an African-American graphic artist, painter, and instructor.  Working primarily in black/white and sepia/white, he was an incredibly skilled draftsmanship whose sensitivity and power has reached millions.  His meticulously executed drawings and paintings speak of and affirm the humanity and beauty of black people.

Charles Wilbert White was an American artist born in Chicago. He was known for his WPA era murals. White was briefly married to famed sculptor and printmaker Elizabeth Catlett. He taught at the Otis Art Institute from 1965 to his death in 1979
