Flashlight Friday Makes Building Stamina a Breeze

Growing First: Flashlight Friday Makes Building Stamina a Breeze -- need to use this for my reluctant reader.

ReadWorks.org - great site for reading & common core standards (has 5th and 6th grade novel units)

Readworks - this site breaks down all the common core elements into grade specific lesson plans, plus worksheets, plus online reading passages and questions. Great resource, covers ELA standards K - grade.

5th Grade blog - Reading and Writing. I could adapt this for first graders, especially toward the end of the year when they are all actually capable of reading but still want to play during independent reading time

I like the idea of real vs fake reading so that students understand the expectations during independent reading

Mrs. Terhune's First Grade Site!: Anchor Charts

Terhune's First Grade Site!: Anchor Charts - great anchor chart ideas for Daily 5 and Language

Bulletin for teaching theme (image only) - great way to see the theme and the theme statement below

Great way to teach theme or main idea! Think that it is cool how they were able to make it interesting for teenagers.
