"1789 Doll", Designer: Agnés Drécoll (French) Designer: Marthe Designer: Prevost Date: 1949, Medium: metal, plaster, hair, silk, straw, feather, Dimensions: 31 x 17 1/2 in. (78.7 x 44.5 cm). The US sent aide to France after WWII in boxcars dubbed the "American Friendship Train" the French created the "Gratitude" or "Merci Train", a set of 49 boxcars filled with gifts of thanks. These dolls made on a wire armature, were included. Each designer chose a style from 1715 to 1906.
