In the late 1980s, Catherine and her defacto partner David Birnie went on a killing spree that shocked and numbed the Western Australian community. You've probably never heard of this disreputable cast of characters: A drunken, ne'er-do-well cop who abandoned his post at Ford's Theatre, giving assassin John Wilkes Booth unchallenged access to President Lincoln; a notorious Kansas quack who made millions by implanting billy goat testicles in gullible male patients; and America's worst female serial killer ever. Blood & Beauty by Sarah Dunant. Top New Historical Fiction on Goodreads, July The Borgias were a notorious Italian family headed by a Cardinal (later Pope); his children were significant figures as well.

Forgot to post this one. I LOVED IT!! I am a total sucker for historical fact-based fiction, and this story was excellent. The story takes place as King Edward is dying and England is in an uproar about which Princess should inherit the throne - Mary (the Papist), or Elizabeth - fictional story related to this history and riveting! Great…
