KENTUCKY CHERRY & MAHOGANY LATE FEDERAL SERVER, the rectangular top over two veneered convex drawers over one flat veneered drawer, both flanked by stiles with burl veneer appliques & raised on spiral-carved ring-turned legs. Circa 1830-1850. 34 1/2" H, 20 1/2" 43 1/2" top. This server descended in the Cowan family of central Kentucky. Captain John Cowan (1748-1819) was an early Kentucky settler who eventually took up residence in Lincoln Co., KY.
