Camera obscura é um tipo de aparelho óptico baseado no princípio de mesmo nome, o qual esteve na base da invenção da fotografia no início do século XIX. Trata-se de um compartimento mantido na obscuridade, dispondo de um orifício num dos lados, a luz que entra por este orifício projeta na parede oposta uma imagem invertida dos objetos exteriores. Este dispositivo foi pormenorizadamente descrito no século XVI e é considerado percursor das câmaras fotográficas.
