ca 1620-1630 ladies gloves made of leather & silk, embroidered with silk and metal thread, spangles; embroidered with long-and-short, satin, knots, and couching stitches; plus metal bobbin lace. The cuffs are embroidered in similar naturalistic motifs seen in ladies jackets (or waistcoats). See detail pic for close up of embroidery.

ca 1600. Embroidered in England; said to have been a gift from Elizabeth I to her maid of honour, Margaret Edgcumbe (1560-1648), wife of Sir Edward Denny (1547-1599). his mitten had a decorative rather than practical function. Like many of the embroidered gloves made during this period, its purpose was to show off the wearer's wealth and status.
