Known as the dhara or nara. The traditional dress of Khasi women in Shillong, situated in the North Eastern part of India. The dress is worn only during occasions or grand ceremonies like weddings. For daily use the Khasi women wear Jainsem.
As years progressed, so did the designs in our traditional dress evolved. From traditionally accepted designs to the ones custom made for an individual.
This is called Nara Shad. Predominantly used on the occasion of the Shad Suk Mynsiem (Dance with a Happy Soul); a thanks giving dance that takes place every year during the month of April.
