Nyak Jnanakumara. One of Padma's closest disciples among the eight heart-sons, this translator also worked directly with Vimalamitra on the Guhyagarbha and received his transmission. Renowned for his Vajrakila practice and transmission, received from Vimalamitra, Nyak also studied Dzogchen with Vairotsana, becoming the principal source of transmission for all Ati streams in Tibet after the departure of Guru Rinpoche.

Sustained by his devotion to Yang-dag Heruka, he lived among the mountain forests, practicing and transmitting the teachings for over 300…

Upon return, he is ordained by Shantarakshita, works closely with Padmasambhava and Vimalamitra. As a team, this trio introduce Dzogchen to Tibet. Becoming the king's guru leads to exile. After years of teaching and meditating in Kham, he is drawn to China, where he gives vajrayana teachings.
