Max Immelmann (1890 – 1916) was the first German WW1 flying ace. He was a great pioneer in fighter aviation  He was the first aviator to win the Pour le Merite. His name has become attached to a common flying tactic, the Immelmann turn, and remains a byword in aviation. He is credited with 15 aerial victories. Immelman was shot down in 1916 by a British fighter piloted by Second Lieutenant G.R. McCubbin with Corporal J. H. Waller as the gunner/observer.

Prince Waldemar of Prussia (Waldemar Wilhelm Ludwig Friedrich Viktor Heinrich) (1889  –  1945) was the eldest son of Prince Henry of Prussia & his wife, Princess Irene of Hesse & by Rhine. Prince Waldemar, like his first cousin, Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich of Russia; uncle Prince Friedrich of Hesse and by Rhine; and youngest brother Heinrich, suffered from haemophilia. He died in a clinic in Tutzing, Bavaria because of the lack of blood transfusion facilities.

Prince Waldemar of Prussia, eldest child of Princess Irene and Prince Heinrich of Prussia. Waldemar was a hemophiliac and died from complications from the disorder in the very last days of WWII.
