The Self-Inquiry "who am I"? does not wake you up. It is the Silence after you say, "who am I"? And you keep still. Then the time comes when the stillness wakes you up and you become free. ~Robert Adams.

If I put a big blackboard the size of a wall here and mark it with a white point and ask you, "What do you see?" Ninety-nine percent of you will not see the blackboard! (Laughs) You will say, "I see a little white spot." Such a big blackboard is not seen, and only a little white spot, which is almost invisible is seen! Why? Because this is the fixed pattern of the mind. To look at the figure, not the blackboard, to look at the cloud, not at the sky; to look at the thought and not…

Stillness of mind comes from giving up all attachments except that attachment to Self. When the mind is quiet, all is Self. When mind moves the world arises, so be still, throw away everything, and be free. Self is what you are. You are That Fathomlessness in which experience and concepts appear. Self is the Moment that has no coming or going. It is the Heart, Atman, Emptiness. It shines to Itself, by Itself, in Itself. -PAPAJI

Your own self is your ultimate teacher (sadguru). The outer teacher (Guru) is merely a milestone. It is only your inner teacher, that will walk with you to the goal, for it is the goal. ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj ...from 'I Am That', chapter 16

NISARGADATTA MAHARAAJ; To understand Him one has to take at least a temporarary stand as WITNESSING CONSCIOUSNESS (SEER). Maharaaj always was established as the SEER . (The ever present, changeless, self luminous AWARENESS)

M: There is no 'how' here. Just keep in mind the feeling 'I am', merge in it, till your mind and feeling become one. By repeated attempts you will stumble on the right balance of attention and affection and your mind will be firmly established in the thought-feeling 'I am'. Whatever you think, say, or do, this sense of immutable and affectionate being remains as the ever-present background of the mind. Nisargadatta Maharaj, I AM THAT ch 16

“As you love your own body, so regard everyone as equal to your own body. When the Supreme Experience supervenes, everyone’s service is revealed as one’s own service. Call it a bird, an insect, an animal or a man, call it by any name you please, one serves one’s own Self in every one of them.” ~Sri Anandamayi Ma
