Grayson County, Virginia Date Made: 1825-1850 Medium: tulip poplar MESDA accession Number: 5898 Description: This bright and boldly paint-decorated box, featuring yellow and red floral designs over a deep green field, was made for Dr. William Marshall Mitchell (1825-1888). This box is part of a recently discovered group of similar boxes made in Grayson County during the second quarter of the 19th century. This example is the only one with both a name and a date.
