A ‘çevre’ (square kerchief; a decorative accessory, for the interior). From the Aegean region, urban style, 1900-1925.  The embroidery is ‘two-sided’ (identical on both sides) and executed with silk, and ‘gold’ & silver strips (in ‘tel kırma’-technique) on cloth.  Design: stylized floral motifs. Antique Greek Island Embroidery Silk & Silver thread Sash Early 18th

A ‘çevre’ (square kerchief; a decorative accessory, for the interior, but also used in costumes by both men and women).  From the rural Marmara region (west of Bursa), ca. 1950. Embroidery with polychrome silk on cotton & small areas in ‘tel kırma’ (motives are obtained by sticking narrow metallic strips through the fabric and folding them). Both techniques are ‘two-sided’ (identical on both sides).  (Inv.nr. brdw005 - Kavak Collection of Anatolian Textiles -Antwerpen/Belgium).
