Explore Old Phone, Do You Remember, and more!

~Rotary Dial Pay Phone~

Payphone The Boy Scouts taught us to always carry a dime for an emergency phone call. how quaint that seems. But I guess almost 50 years ago is often quaint.

Rotary dial of an old phone.

I remember when a phone call cost a dime and got upset when they raised it to a quarter! Do pay phones even exist anymore?

Remember always having a quarter (or in earlier generations, a dime) in you pocket just in case you needed to make a call?

Old Rotary Pay Phone - Calls were a nickel and then 10 cents Mom always gave me a dime to put in my shoe when I went anywhere with friends so I could call home if I needed to

over 70% of the population has never seen or touched one of these!

Rotary Dial~ Phone numbers used to be according to letter, e., Lincoln 54321 So the phone number was 545 321 and that's why we originally had letters on our rotary phones.

These used to be everywhere!

Do you remember phone booths everywhere? The first time I drove to Memphis ALONE I got lost and kept stopping at the phone booth to call Momma crying.

Hopscotch- finally found my playground sport

I used to play hopscotch every day in elementary school. A chain bracelet was my favorite marker.

Phone Booths

Row of Phone Booths. You were forced into a little booth to talk on the phone.instead of walking in public talking on your phone.

This is how we called home.

Everyday Life in the Past.these two things were in strategic places on our streets.photo USA phone booth replaced by cell phones and mail boxes replaced by email.

School dresses like I use to wear! WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR PANTS.. JUST SHORTS UNDER THE DRESSES

Girls in the always wore dresses like this to school; girls were not allowed to wear pants, except in the winter and they had to wear them under their dresses and remove them when they got to school. Sears, Roebuck and Co. Catalog and J C Penny's too!

I do not miss this crap. Kids today will never know the struggle of getting up to change the channel!

"Turning the dial" on the TV.we got THREE channels. Had to get up to turn it in and off, turn the volume up or down and change channels.
