A long way to go: The yellow dot shows the 200 light year radius of how far radio waves have reached into the Milky Way. (via Earth calling: Tiny yellow dot shows distance radio broadcasts to aliens have travelled)

Here's everything in the observable universe, and here's your place in it. A tiny ant in a giant jar.

Pink pastel heavens

Cotton Candy Nebula - The nebula known as complete with sparkly star clusters embedded in fluffy pink clouds of gas. This exceptionally energetic star-forming region, also known as the Bean Nebula, extends over light-years in the Large Magellanic Cloud.

For the first time, researchers have detected a streamer of gas flowing from a massive outer disc toward the inner reaches of a binary star system. This never-before-seen feature may be responsible for sustaining a second, smaller disc of planet-forming material that otherwise would have disappeared long ago. Half of Sun-like stars are born in binary systems, meaning that these findings will have major consequences for the hunt for exoplanets. (ESO)

We are alone in the universe..the most ridiculous statement ever made. Probability has us with at least a few other BILLION planets that have inhabitants most likely far more intelligent than us as well.
