The Writers Museum in Edinburgh: Three famous writers of Scotland are honoured in this small museum that displays memorabilia and historical information about their lives and works. One, the poet Robert Burns, stayed in a home opposite Museum during a visit to the city in 1786. One of the most celebrated of Scotland’s writers, statues of Burns are scattered around the area.

Borthwick Castle, Midlothian, Scotland - my brother got married here.  We got to spend the night as well.  Very cool experience!

Edinburgh Royal Scots Club 1919 Staff at the historic Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh have uncovered rarely seen photographs of the building’s meeting rooms as they looked in 1919.  The building formerly housed in temporary huts in St Andrew Square after the First World War can be seen in the photographs, with turn of the century flipcharts and desks. The day I visited Dryburgh Abbey was magical...a soft mist was falling and there were very few visitors there but my husband and me...and some sheep and Highland cattle, as you can see in the distance...and I knew an important scene in the new book set in Scotland had to take place here…(Author's photo)
