Hanging lamp. [Germany, 18th or 19th century]. Lamp with flower-like ornamentation. Eight cornets for filling with oil and wicks, star-shaped design. Under the star, another bowl is hanging for draining the oil. Has a long rack shaped like a sharp saw upon which the lamp hung. The star arrangement of cornets in the center of the lamp was known by the name of "The Jewish Star" ("Yudeshtern"). Such lamps were common in Jewish homes in Germany Maximum height (with hanging rack): 120 cm.
