For over 100 years, this photo was hidden in the private collection of the family of a crew member of the ship, Mackay Bennett, which served as a body recovery ship for the sunken Titanic. This photo, taken 9 days after Titanic sank, shows a mass funeral aboard Mackay Bennett for those whose bodies were recovered. The celebrant (draped in white) was Reverend Hind. After the service, the bodies were buried at sea. Body #177 was 28 year old fireman, William Mayo.
