In at the deep end!

This zebra got a bit of a shock as the shallow pool it was wading through wasn't quite as shallow as it anticipated!

AMCHATKA: KURIL LAKE - KINGDOM OF THE BROWN BEARS Only a matter of time before this salmon is devoured having been chased through the shallows. It was almost as if this bear was enjoying playing with this fish. Given the numbers of salmon available and the relative ease of the catches the bears were not hungry and could taken their time to eat. - @claradaviesphotography Shot Notes: Tag your #wildlife shots @canonaustralia or #canonaustralia for a chance to be featured. via Canon on Instagram…

Morkel Erasmus Photography. "Twisting Trunks" "These two young elephant bulls were photographed on the Wild Eye photo safari I hosted on the Chobe river in Botswana last year. They had a ton of fun floundering around in the shallows of the river, and their play was uninhibited and entertaining."

One of my favourite wildlife photography spots is Horseshoe Lake State Park. They are draining the south side of the lake right now if preparation for the fall bird migration. As they do birds start showing up in large numbers. I have been fortunate enough to get plenty of closeup shots of Black Crowned Night Herons fishing in the shallow waters.
