USS Valley Forge: Crewmen use flight deck tractors with power brooms to sweep snow from the carrier's flight deck, during operations off Korea, circa early 1951. Photo is dated 8 May 1951, but Valley Forge ended her second Korean War deployment in late March of that year.
08 I found this image from the Korean War at http://www.koreanwaronline.com/history/Appleman/Frames/SC349306.htm along with a brief story. I wonder what Sgt. Herbert was thinking as he looked upon the lifeless body of this dead communist soldier. Did he feel a victor? A conqueror, defending a nation, an ideal? Did he feel at peace? Or does he wonder when someone will be standing over his body, contemplating these very things?
