Queen Elizabeth, c. 1590.  Attr. to Nicholas Hilliard.  Jesus College, Oxford. The Queen's forepart is embroidered with suns - and possibly full moons. Two winged figures symbolizing Fame crown the Queen with a laurel wreath. The face is a weak version of the approved pattern but the elaborate ensemble looks to have been painted from an actual gown. Lacking the wearer herself the artist(s) has struggled with the royal anatomy.
