The surrounding landscape is substantially free of trees and spacious meadows around the lake serve as pastures since ancient times where shepherds fit cattle in the summer months, and they live in a traditional house - yurt. The Son-Kol lake can be reached via one of 4 mountain roads leading to it from different directions.
