Phyllodesmium acanthorhinum (Japan)

Like other sea slugs, this new species, Phyllodesmium acanthorhinum, is strikingly colorful. Found in the waters off Japan, this inch long creature is considered a missing link between sea slugs that eat corals and those that eat coral relatives.

this is not a nudibranch, it is a Polyclad Flatworm. They are commonly mistaken for nudibranchs on the reef, however on close inspection there is a lack of gills and other features.
