A large, white-ground Central Anatolian kilim composed of three panels: the field was woven as a single panel and the two borders woven separately and attached later. This approach avoids the misalignment of the design along the central axis that is so typical of two-panel Anatolian kilims. Judging by the clear and brilliant colours and balanced composition, this kilim is likely to date no later than the mid 19th century. Turkey

Antique Hamadan rug in our collection of antique rugs, carpets and textiles. 19th Century - wonderful lustrous thick wool pile on wool warp and weft. Lovely colours - including a pinky madder, an overdyed pea green and a pale light blue in the anchor motifs of the central medallion.
