Mary Delany collage of a Magnolia grandiflora Mary Delany (nee Granville) May 1700 – 15 April was an English Bluestocking, artist, and letter-writer; equally famous for her “paper-mosaicks”.

Mary Delany's “paper mosaick" botanicals. Her paper collages are botanically accurate down to the color, size, leaf, stamen and even insect nibble. Each was made with hundreds of little pieces of colored paper cut with tiny delicate scissors, an art she began at age 72!
