By 6:30 a.m. on March 6, 1836, the Battle of the Alamo was over, but that was not the end of skirmishes over the property.  The property was used by the Catholic Church, the U.S. Army, the city of San Antonio, and various commercial concerns including Hugo and Schmeltzer, a wholesale grocer.
