Low lighting and marble create "cold" mood for Tuve hotel
The project by the young architectural studio Urbanplunger has been recently awarded the third prize in the Night Club Hotel in Hong Kong international competition. The main idea is to create a suspended building structure to comply with the extremely compact planning in Hong Kong. The whole structure is elevated above the ground by leaning on the nearby buildings.
The Hong Kong Pixel Homes competition challenged participants to rethink the concept of city architecture to accommodate affordable housing when every square centimetre of space is at a premium. 1st place winners Lap Chi Kwong, Alison Von Glinow, and Kevin Lamyuktseung from the USA - along with 2nd and 3rd place winners from France and China - were selected for their reimagining of vertical living in one of the busiest cities in the world.
