Reunited one last time - six of Britain's greatest steam engines including world record holder Mallard and its five surviving sister locomotives

The world& fastest steam locomotive, Mallard, and six of her sister trains were gathered in Shildon, County Durham, yesterday to celebrate the anniversary of the record being set.

Great shot of DP2 at Camden shed, sometime in 1962. Built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry in 1962 using a Deltic bodyshell (reputed to be shell No18). The loco was fitted with an English Electric 16CSVT engine of 2700-hp. On 31 July 1967 DP2 was involved in a serious accident at Thirsk, colliding at speed with the de-railed Cliffe (Kent) to Uddingston (Glasgow) cement train and was withdrawn in Sept 1967 and scrapped in 1970.
