The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls- Reading this now. It is a fantastic memoir. She paints magical pictures of a childhood of neglect and the journey to a better life. It's inspiring, really, and I haven't even finished it yet. (recommended by Jenni)
This files contains 60 pages of worksheets to help student learn short vowel sounds. Students would not necessarily complete all the worksheets, but rather the teacher would give different types of practice to different students depending on their individual needs.
