Ada Deer - social worker and activist, became the first Native American woman to head of the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1991. Deer also became the first Native American woman in Wisconsin to run for Congress.

Ada Deer is one to read about if you are interested in social work or Native American history in WWII. She was the first woman to chair the Menominee Tribe in Wisconsin and became the first First Nation woman to head the U. Bureau of Indian Affairs.
