Stretcher bearers carry a wounded soldier to waiting barges loaded with other wounded men. Limited medical care could be given on the Gallipoli Peninsula and medical cases were evacuated for further treatment to Hospital ships moored off Anzac Cove.

Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. 17 November 1915. During a storm, which came up from the south-west, the Indian mule carts, which were kept along the beach, were partially buried. The Turks, knowing that we must be busy clearing things up, kept up an incessant fire with 'Beachy Bill', one of their big guns.
